Vinteloper

Vinteloper : Pinot Gris 2017

It's like the Muhammad Ali of Pinot Gris. Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee. We know wine can be transcendent, and after initial bursts of freshness, our Pinot Gris is all about the funk and soul. Taking its cue from the faint hue of orange/grey from extended skin contact, the aromas of poached pear and peach jump straight out of the glass. In the mouth the stone fruits are there, with cinnamon and vanilla pod spice, building generosity as it unfurls.

  • Partial skin contact - for a blush of colour and style.
  • Wild Yeast - gives it that funky, natural edge.
  • Extended lees contact - for creaminess and texture.
  • 35% barrel fermented

Vinteloper : Urban Winery Project

Speak to David... This wine is alive, constantly evolving and we are proud to say it's pretty challenging stuff.
This is not the Semillon Sauvignon that your Mum used to drink!

We experimented with the balance and came up with 66.6% Semillon and 33.4% Sauvignon to get this crazy little wine looking the way it does today. WILD. NATURAL with just a hint of wonderment.

Vinteloper

Vinteloper : Urban Winery Project Red

Grape flavoured nerds meets marshmallows toasted on the campfire. If you're a singer, it's easy, harmony.

Us? Well, we stick to winemaking to find it. Up front you've got the fruit you know, blackcurrant and plum from shiraz, all kept in check by the herbal and sophisticated restrain of Tempranillo.

It's hard to believe this wine was made by 300+ amateurs in makeshift urban spaces. I guess it's proof that excellent vineyards, good oak and patience have a big part to play!

Vinteloper

Vinteloper : Pinot Noir 2016

This is analogue wine. A classic car. Light in appearance yet bold where it needs to be.

It hits you with the perfume of cherry, mineral earth, rose petals & spice to lead out. Then its light-handed touch becomes immediately apparent as you ease into the palate. Layered & complex cherry, plum & berry fruits emerge then the second wave, minerality again, with thyme, cinnamon & woodsmoke. Unfurling as smooth as silk.

Measured vineyard inputs, precise harvest timing & minimal intervention winemaking are the technically important features here.

Our belief is that production of Pinot Noir is rarely without obstacle. That's why we love it & praise those accomplished seasons... 2016 was certainly one to remember.

  • 33% whole bunches + additional stems included up to 50% by weight.
  • Natural yeast fermentation.
  • Crushed throughout fermentation by hand and foot.
  • Matured for 11 months in French oak.
  • 33% new.
  • Bottled without fining or filtration.

Vinteloper

Vinteloper : Shiraz 2015

Our 8th vintage of Shiraz, and one of our best. It's got the whole package, like fine wine should. Playful enough to work on Wednesday yet serious enough to work on Saturday.

It bounces out of the glass in a fragrant multi-layered bouquet of juicy fruit, pepper and chocolate with a hint of dried apricot. The acid keeps the palate in check, with a fine balance of concentration & cool climate intensity. It's pure and poised, integrating medium bodied feel yet full bodied drive and length.

  • Minimal intervention.
  • Natural Wild Yeast.
  • 100% French Oak. 33% New.
  • 18 months matured in Oak.
  • Production. 3240 bottles

Sew & Sew

Sew & Sew : Sauvignon Blanc

  • Bottles Made: 6000
  • From: ADELAIDE HILLS REGION
  • Eating: As it is summer we have been drinking it with Zucchini fritters topped with goat cheese and tomatoes with basil all from the garden. Beautiful fish fillets from Kangaroo Island finished on the BBQ with lemon juice and zest, olive oil and capers. And of course all sorts of hors d'oeuvre, especially shell fish and oysters.
  • Listening: During summer I just love playing some quite jazz as the evening cools and the intensity of the day recedes. Last night as I was preparing dinner for friends I was listening to Miles Davis.
  • Historical/Famous Figure: Collett Dinnigan, has a wonderful zest for life, her fashion and interior designs are detailed but invite a relaxed life style. That is exactly how I visualised this Sauvignon Blanc, to be zesty and bright with subtle details that make it interesting.

  • Sniff: Vibrant and fresh with rich tropical fruits complimented with guava, jasmine, tropical nectars, and citrus notes.
  • Slurp: Zesty fruit flavours with hints of nectarine and gooseberry.
  • Swallow: A bright and refreshing wine which has a cool crisp finish.
